Billing

Recurring billing software that raises the invoice for you.

Spodus is recurring billing software for retainers and plans. Set the amount and a monthly or annual schedule once, and Spodus raises each invoice as a draft on the day it is due, whether or not anyone is signed in. You check it and send it. It does not charge a card, meter usage or send dunning emails.

Recurring invoices in practice.

Recurring billing: the invoice is drafted on a schedule; you check it and send it.

01

Set the schedule once

Pick monthly or annual, a start date, and the amount. Spodus raises each invoice as a draft on the day; you check it and send it. Each recurring invoice carries the same lines as the last one.

Set the schedule once

02

Change it once, the next one follows

Edit the amount, the line items, or the cadence and the next invoice picks it up. The ones already sent stay exactly as the customer received them.

03

Overdue retainers surface themselves

Scheduled invoices land in the same list as everything else, flagged due and overdue, so a retainer that has stopped paying is visible without a report.

Automated billing software for retainers

An automated billing system here is a template with a schedule. It raises the invoice as a draft on the due date; you check it and send it. Nobody has to remember the first of the month, and nothing else changes: the customer still pays you the way they already do.

Invoice automation, not a second tool

Teams buy invoice automation software to raise the same invoice every month. Here that is one setting on the invoice you already raise, on the same customer record the deal and the tickets use, with no export and no sync between two systems.

One connected system

Automated billing, wired into the rest of the business.

A recurring billing platform on its own knows the invoice. This one knows the deal that started it and the ticket that mentions it, and keeps them in step as each invoice is raised, sent, and settled.

  • Deal closed on a retainer, the billing schedule starts itself.
  • This month's invoice goes overdue, open a ticket for support to follow up.
  • You record the payment, the invoice and the revenue report update together.

Questions, answered.

Do customers get charged automatically?
No, and we would rather be blunt about it. Spodus raises the invoice as a draft on the day; you check it and send it. It never charges a card. The customer pays you however they already do and you record the payment against it.
Can I change or stop a schedule mid-cycle?
Yes. Change the amount or the cadence, or stop the schedule outright, and the change applies from the next invoice. Invoices already sent are left alone.
Can I bill annually and monthly from the same catalog?
Yes. Offer the same product on a monthly or an annual schedule, and run both against different customers at the same time.
Is this SaaS billing software?
No. SaaS billing software and subscription billing platforms charge a stored card, meter usage and retry a failed payment. Spodus does none of that. As subscription billing software it does one thing: raise the invoice as a draft on the schedule you set, for you to check and send. If you need metering or dunning, keep the billing platform for that and use Spodus for the CRM and the invoice record.
Is Spodus recurring billing software for agencies?
Yes, for the invoice half. An agency on monthly retainers sets each client's amount and schedule once, and the invoice is drafted on the day; you check it and send it. Retainer billing software here means the invoice, the client record and the support queue in one place. It does not track hours against the retainer and it does not charge the client's card.
Does it handle subscription billing for agencies?
Only as invoices. Subscription billing for agencies usually means a card on file charged every month. Spodus never charges a card. It raises the invoice as a draft each month; you check it and send it, the client pays however they already do, and you record the payment. If automatic card collection decides it, this is not the tool for that part.

Recurring invoices: included, never an add-on.
