Alternatives to Teamwork.com

Teamwork alternatives: the client work is on the tier above.

People look for Teamwork alternatives because of the tiers. Paid plans carry seat minimums. Retainers, workload and full invoicing are a tier up, profitability two tiers up. There is no Teamwork CRM: the pricing page offers a HubSpot connector on the second paid tier and a Salesforce connector on the third. Spodus is the CRM, with tasks and invoices on one record.

What actually pushes people off Teamwork.

Three mechanics, all on their pricing page, none of them the product.

01

Seats have a floor

The free plan stops at five people. The first paid plan needs three seats and the next needs five. A two-person studio pays for three, and the fourth hire on the middle tier means paying for five. It is not a large sum. It is the first sign the software was priced for a bigger team than yours.

02

Teamwork task management is on every plan. The billing is not.

Time tracking and Gantt charts are on every plan, the free one included. The things an agency bills with are not. Retainers, time budgets, team workload and full invoicing with margins and taxes arrive on the second paid tier. Revenue, cost and profitability reporting arrive on the third. The plan you can afford tracks the work. The plan you need bills it.

03

The CRM is a connector, and the AI becomes a meter

There is no Teamwork CRM product any more. The pricing page offers a HubSpot connection on the second paid tier and Salesforce on the third, which means a second subscription and an integration before a client record exists. The same page says usage-based AI credits are coming, announced for 2026, so the AI that was included becomes something to watch.

What a Spodus seat is instead.

One seat, no floor, and the CRM already in it.

One person is one seat

There is no seat minimum and no pack. One person is one seat on Growth, and the fourth hire is one more at the same rate. Nothing about the size of the team decides which plan you are allowed.

The CRM is not an integration

Contacts, companies, deals and pipelines are one of the five products, on every plan. A task sits on the same client record as the deal that won the work and the invoice that bills it. There is no HubSpot to connect, because there is nothing to connect it to.

Tasks, boards and invoices on the record

Boards, tables and calendars work over tasks, subtasks and any custom object, with dashboards and automations on every plan. Invoices carry tax rates and recurring schedules and sit on the same client. That covers who owns what, by when, in what state, and what was billed for it. It does not cover a Gantt chart, and the next section says so.

What you would be giving up.

Teamwork.com is a better project tool than Spodus, and the gap is widest exactly where agencies live. Gantt charts with dependencies, milestones, project templates, and billing built from tracked time: billable hours become invoice lines, retainers hold a monthly budget, and profitability is reported per project. Spodus tracks time with a timer and a weekly timesheet, but no hour here becomes an invoice line, and there is no retainer balance or profitability report. For teamwork management across a delivery team, Teamwork's workload and resource scheduling show who is over capacity, and Spodus has a board. If you bill clients by the hour against budgets, stay. Spodus is for the agency that sells, delivers, invoices and supports on one client record and does not bill from a timer.

Side by side.

Teamwork.com's pricing structure above was read from their own pricing page on 11 September 2026; check it for current rates, which we deliberately do not quote here. Spodus is priced per seat on both Growth and Business, with no seat minimum. Customers in the support portal are free.

Projects and tasks come over. Hours do not.

Export projects and tasks from Teamwork to CSV or Excel and import them onto a Spodus object, with statuses kept, assignees matched on email and subtasks arriving as one level of hierarchy. There is no Teamwork preset, so the column mapping is done by hand on the Map step, which takes minutes. Clients and contacts import the same way, with duplicate detection. What does not come across: time entries, invoices built from hours, retainer budgets, Gantt dependencies and workload plans. If those are what you use Teamwork for, this is the wrong move rather than a hard one.

Questions, answered.

Does Spodus replace Teamwork for project management?
Partly. Tasks, subtasks, boards, tables, calendars, dashboards and automations are here, on every plan, over the same client record as the deal and the invoice. A Gantt chart with dependencies, milestones, workload planning and billing from tracked hours are not. If the project side of Teamwork is task lists and boards, Spodus covers it. If it is the Gantt and the retainers, it does not.
Productive vs Teamwork: which one is closer to Spodus?
Neither, and that is useful to know. Productive and Teamwork both bill from tracked time and report profitability, with Productive built for agency finance and Teamwork built around project delivery. Spodus does neither: it tracks time but never turns an hour into an invoice line. If you are choosing between Productive and Teamwork, you are choosing a time-billing tool, and Spodus should not be on that list.
Is there really no seat minimum?
None. One person is one seat, and seats are bought one at a time at the same rate from the first to the hundredth. Nothing about headcount decides your plan. The plans differ by storage, automation allowance, workspaces and the admin controls a larger company needs, never by how many people you must pay for.
Can we import from Teamwork?
Yes, by CSV or Excel, project by project. Tasks land on a Spodus object with statuses and assignees mapped, and clients land as companies and contacts with duplicate detection. Time entries have nowhere to land, so the hours start again here.
