Dictate a question
Speak your question to Ask Spodus instead of typing it. Your words appear in the box as you talk, and you check them before you send.
You can say your question out loud instead of typing it. Your words appear in the Ask Spodus box as you speak.
Before you start
- Dictation uses your browser's own speech recognition. If your browser doesn't have it, as with Firefox, the microphone button doesn't show.
- Your browser asks for permission to use the microphone the first time. Allow it.
Things to know
- Dictation never sends on its own. When you stop, the text stays in the box for you to check.
- What you say is added after anything already in the box.
- It listens in your browser's language. There's no separate language setting.
Dictate a question
- Click Dictate (the microphone) in the Ask Spodus box. Or click in the box and press ⌘D (Ctrl+D on Windows).
- Speak your question. The words appear as you talk.
- Click Stop dictating when you're done.
- Fix any words if you need to, then press Enter to ask.
Sending the question also stops dictation.
If dictation doesn't work
- If you see "Allow the microphone for this site to dictate.", allow the microphone in your browser's site settings and try again.
- If you see "Dictation stopped. Try again.", click Dictate again.
