Add the fields your business needs to any board, and tidy up the fields it came with.
Before you start
- To add, rename or hide a field, you need to be an owner or admin, or hold a role with the Data Model setting. See Roles & permissions.
Things to know
-
There are 14 field types:
Basic Advanced Relational Text, Long text, Number, Currency, Date, Email, URL, Phone, Checkbox Select, Multi-select, Rating People, Relation -
A Relation field links to records on another board. A People field links to people in your workspace.
-
A relation field's target board can't be changed after you create it.
-
Built-in fields can be renamed, hidden and reordered, but not deleted.
-
Each board can have up to 25 custom fields on the Free plan, 100 on Starter and 500 on Growth.
Add a custom field
- Go to Settings > Data model.
- Under Boards, click the board, for example Deals.
- On the Fields tab, click New field.
- Choose a field type. Type in the search box to find one.
- Type a Name. For Select and Multi-select, add the Options. For Relation, choose the Target board.
- Click Save.
Edit or delete a custom field
- On the board's Fields tab, open the menu at the end of the field's row.
- Click Edit to change its name or options, or Delete to remove it.
Deleting a field removes it from every view, form and record for everyone, and its values stop showing. This can't be undone.
Rename, hide or reorder built-in fields
On the board's Fields tab:
- To rename a field, open the menu at the end of its row and click Rename.
- To hide a field, click the eye icon on its row. The data stays.
- To reorder fields, drag the rows.
Reset fields puts the order and visibility back to the default.
