SequencesUpdated
Sending settings
Set when sequence emails go out, whether they skip weekends, which time zone they follow, when people leave, and what goes under every email.
Sending settings decide when sequence emails go out and when someone stops getting them. Your workspace has one set of defaults, and each sequence can change any of them for itself.
Before you start
- Sequences are on the Starter and Growth plans.
- Only workspace admins can change the workspace defaults. Anyone who can edit a sequence can change its own settings.
Things to know
- A new workspace sends between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, on business days only, in one time zone.
- Exit when they reply is always on. A reply takes the person out of the sequence.
- Every email ends with an unsubscribe link. You can change its words, but you can't turn it off. See Unsubscribes.
- A change to a sequence's settings goes live when you publish it. A change to the workspace defaults shows as Unpublished changes on live sequences that use them, until you publish each one again.
Change the workspace defaults
- Go to More > Sequences.
- Click Sequence settings (the gear) in the page bar.
- Pick a section on the left: Sending, Exits or Footer.
The same dialog also lists your Mailboxes and links to the Do-not-email list.
Change one sequence's settings
- Open the sequence and click the Settings tab. On a new draft, this is the Sending step.
- Change a row. The row then says Changed for this sequence.
- Click Use workspace setting under a row to go back to the default.
- Publish the sequence.
The settings
Sending
- Sending window: the hours emails go out, for example 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Business days only: Monday to Friday. A step due on a weekend waits for Monday.
- Time zone: choose Send in one time zone, or Use each recipient’s time zone when we know it. With the second, pick the zone to use When we don’t know theirs.
- Send follow-ups as replies: later emails go in the same thread, with "Re:" and the first email's subject.
When someone leaves (called Exits in the workspace dialog)
- Exit when they reply: always on.
- Exit when an event is booked: someone with a new event on your calendar gets no more emails. Cancelled events don't count.
Footer
- Include my signature: the sender's signature goes under each email. Each mailbox has its own signature. See Share a mailbox.
- Unsubscribe link: the words of the link at the end of every email. It starts as "Unsubscribe".
