Build a form
Start a form from blank, Lead capture or a template, add questions of the right type, and set which ones are required before you publish it.
Forms collect answers from people outside your workspace, such as an enquiry form on your website. Every answer is kept as a response, and a form can also create a record, like a lead, for each one.
Things to know
- How many forms you can have depends on your plan: 1 on Free, 25 on Starter and 50 on Growth. Forms in the Trash don't count.
- If you are at your limit, Spodus says so and offers See plans. Delete a form you no longer use, or upgrade.
- A new form is a Draft. Only a published form can be filled in. See Publish and embed.
Start a form
- Go to More > Forms.
- Click New form and choose a starting point:
- Blank form: starts empty and keeps responses only.
- Lead capture: starts with name, company, email, phone and source, and creates a lead for each response. It shows only when Leads is turned on.
- Contact us, Project brief or Feedback: templates with their questions already in place. They keep responses only until you choose a record type.
- The form opens in the builder on the Build tab. Click the name at the top to rename it.
Add questions
The panel on the left lists what you can add. Drag an item onto the form, or click it to add it at the end. Hover between two questions and click + to insert one at that spot.
- Questions are asked on this form only. Pick one of these types: Short text, Long text, Email, Phone, Number, Date, Single choice, Multiple choice, Checkbox or Rating (1 to 5).
- When the form creates records, a section such as Lead fields lists that record's own fields. An answer to one of these is saved straight onto the record.
- Layout adds a Heading or a Paragraph of text.
Use Search fields at the top of the panel to find an item by name.
Set up a question
Click a question on the form to open its settings on the right:
- Question type: change the type of a form-only question.
- Question label: the question as visitors read it.
- For Single choice and Multiple choice, edit the options. Click Add option, or press Enter in an option to add the next one.
- Placeholder and Help text: optional hints.
- Required: visitors can't send the form without an answer.
You can also click Required or Optional on the question itself to switch it. To move a question, drag it or use the arrows that show when you hover over it. The copy icon duplicates a form-only question, a heading or a paragraph, and the bin icon removes it. Click Undo in the message that follows to bring a removed question back.
