Columns and fields
Choose which fields show as columns in a table, hide the ones you don't need, drag columns into order, and add a new field from the table.
In a table, each column is a field. Show the ones you work with, hide the rest, and add a new field without leaving the list.
Before you start
- Anyone can show, hide and reorder columns.
- To add a new field, you need to be an owner or admin, or hold a role with the Data Model setting. See Roles and permissions.
Things to know
- Hidden fields keep their data. Hiding only takes the column off the table.
- The first column, which names the record, can't be hidden.
- Column order, widths and hidden fields are part of the view. On a saved view, click Save to keep them. On the first tab, such as All contacts, they are kept for you only. See Save a view.
Hide a column
- Hover over the column header and click the arrow next to its name.
- Click Hide field.
Show or hide columns
- Click + at the right end of the header row.
- In the panel that opens, use the switches under Shown and Hidden. Use Search fields and column types to find a field.
You can also click Display > Fields.
Reorder columns
Drag a column header left or right. To change a column's width, drag the edge of its header.
Add a column
- Click + at the right end of the header row.
- Under Essentials, pick a type, such as Text, Dropdown, Date or People. For other types, such as Currency or Relation, click More columns, or type the type's name in the search box.
- Type a Column name. For a relation, click Choose a board… and pick the board it links to.
- Click Add (for example Add text), or press Enter.
The new field is added to the board for everyone. To rename, reorder or delete fields for the whole workspace, see Custom fields.
