AutomationsUpdated
Automation settings
Publish or discard changes to a live automation, go back to an earlier version, set the time zone its schedule uses, and get told when a run fails.
Each automation has versions, so you can edit a live one safely. Its Settings tab holds what belongs to the automation as a whole: a description, the time zone, and failure notices.
Versions
- Each version has a number, such as v1 and v2, and a status: Draft, Active, Deactivated or Archived.
- When you edit a live automation, Spodus makes a draft. The live version keeps running until you publish the draft.
- When you publish, the draft becomes Active and the version it replaces is Archived.
Publish or discard your changes
A banner says when a live automation has unpublished changes.
- Click Publish changes to make your edits live.
- Click Discard changes to drop them and go back to the live version.
On the Automations list, a live automation with a draft shows Unpublished changes in its Status column.
Go back to an earlier version
- Open the automation and click Automation options (⋯) at the top right.
- Under Versions, click the version you want.
- Spodus copies it into a new draft. If a draft already exists, confirm with Use as draft to replace it.
- Click Publish to make it live. If no version is live, the button says Activate.
To drop a draft from the same menu, click Discard draft.
Switch an automation off
Click Deactivate at the top of the builder, or use the switch on the Automations list. When you switch it back on, the version that was live comes back.
The Settings tab
Open the automation and click Settings at the top.
- Description: what the automation is for. It shows when you hover the automation's name on the list.
- Timezone: the clock a schedule keeps. "Every day at 09:00" runs at 09:00 in this zone. A new automation starts in your own time zone.
- Tell me when a run fails: sends a notice to the bell of the person who created the automation, at most once a day. Test runs never send one. It is on unless you turn it off.
Changing these settings doesn't create a new version.
