Currencies
Pick the base currency your totals and reports use, add exchange rates for the other currencies you bill in, and change the rate on one document.
Your base currency is the one Spodus adds everything up in. To bill a client in another currency, give that currency an exchange rate first.
Things to know
- The currencies on offer are USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD and JPY. The base starts as USD.
- You type the rates in. Spodus does not fetch live rates.
- A rate is how many units of your base currency one unit of the other currency is worth. A EUR rate of 1.10 means 1 EUR = 1.10 in your base.
- Totals, the Revenue overview, statements and reports convert each document by its own rate.
- The number of currencies in use, base included, depends on your plan: 1 on Free (the base only) and up to 5 on Starter. Growth has no practical limit.
Set your base currency
- Go to Revenue > Overview and click the gear.
- On the General tab, find Currencies & exchange rates.
- Pick your Base currency.
Changing the base re-bases every report and total, through the rates you entered.
Add an exchange rate
- Under Currencies & exchange rates, pick a currency from Add currency….
- Type its rate.
- Click Add.
To change a rate, type the new one in the table. To stop using a currency, click the bin icon beside it.
Bill a client in another currency
- Set the Currency on the quote or invoice in the panel on the right.
- A company or contact can have its own Currency field. A new draft for that client takes the client's currency until you add a priced line or pick a currency yourself.
- The panel shows the rate and what the total comes to in your base currency.
Change the rate on one document
- Open the quote or invoice.
- Click the More menu (⋯) and choose Override exchange rate.
- Type the rate and click Use this rate.
The document the client sees stays in its own currency. Only the base-currency figure in the panel changes. If the workspace had no rate for that currency, the one you type is saved for the workspace too.
