Notes
Write quick notes, link each one to the record it is about, file notes in folders, pin the ones you need, and filter, sort and group the list.
Notes are short, plain-text notes. Each one can be about a record, such as a contact, company or deal, and you can file them in folders. Open them from Notes on the left rail.
Things to know
- A note linked to a record also shows on that record's Notes tab. See Notes on a record.
- A note doesn't need a record. You can write one and link it later.
- The panel beside the rail has four views: All, Mine (notes you wrote), Pinned and This week. Notes that aren't in a folder show under All.
- Pinned notes show first, as cards in a row above the list.
- A deleted note moves to Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days.
Write a note
- Go to Notes.
- Click New note.
- In Choose record, pick the record the note is about and click Select record. To write a note without a record, close the dialog.
- Type a title, then write the note under it. Spodus saves as you type.
If you're in a folder when you click New note, the note goes into that folder.
Link a note to a different record
- Open the note.
- Click Change record next to the record's name. If the note has no record yet, click Add a record.
- Pick the record.
From the list, open a note's actions menu and click Change record or Link a record.
File notes in folders
- In the panel, click New folder, then type a name.
- To move a note, drag it onto the folder in the panel. You can also open the note, click the folder button under the title (it reads Add to folder when the note has no folder), and pick a folder.
To take a note out of its folder, pick Remove from folder from the same menu, or drag it onto All.
To rename or delete a folder, hover over it in the panel and open its menu. Deleting a folder doesn't delete its notes. They show under All.
Pin, copy or delete a note
- Click the star on a note to pin it. Click it again to unpin.
- In an open note, click Copy link to share it with a teammate.
- To delete a note, open its menu and click Delete, then Delete note.
Filter, sort and group the list
- Filter narrows the list by Record type, Author or Created (Today, This week or Last 30 days). Click Clear filters to reset.
- Sorted by orders notes by Created, Updated or Title.
- View settings groups notes by Date, Record, Author or None, and turns the Record or owner, People and Created columns on or off.
- Switch between a list and a grid with the buttons next to View settings.
