Capture and convert leads
Add leads by hand or from a lead capture form, track their status, and convert a qualified lead into a contact and a deal in one step.
A lead is someone who might become a client but isn't one yet. Keep leads in Leads until you know they're a good fit, then convert them into a contact and a deal.
Things to know
- A lead's Status is one of New, Contacted, Qualified, Unqualified or Converted. You set it yourself as you work the lead.
- A lead's Source is one of Website, Referral, Outbound, Event, Advertising, Email or Other.
- A lead's company is saved as text. When you convert the lead, Spodus links the new contact to the company with that name, and creates the company if it doesn't exist yet.
- Converting a lead creates a new contact. The lead stays in Leads, marked Converted.
- The Free plan allows 1 form.
Add a lead by hand
- In the left rail, click CRM, then Leads.
- Click New lead.
- Fill in Name, and any of Company, Email, Phone, Source and Owner.
- Click Create.
Capture leads with a form
- In the left rail, click More, then Forms.
- Click New form, then Lead capture.
- Adjust the questions if you need to, then publish and share the form. See Build a form.
The form asks for name, company, email, phone and source. Only the name is required. Every response creates a lead with the status New. If the person leaves the source blank, it's set to Website.
Work your leads
- Open a lead and change its Status to Contacted, Qualified or Unqualified as you go.
- Switch the Leads list to a board to see leads grouped by status. Drag a card to change its status.
- Use the ready-made views to narrow the list: My leads, New, Contacted and Qualified.
Convert a lead
- In the Leads table, hover over the lead's name and click Convert. Or open the lead and click Convert.
- Leave Also create a deal ticked if you want a deal too.
- Click Convert.
Spodus creates a contact with the lead's name, email, phone, owner and source, linked to the lead's company. If you ticked Also create a deal, it also creates a deal in your first stage, named after the company, for example "Acme deal", and linked to that contact. The lead is marked Converted, and the new contact opens in the side panel so you can carry on.
