Milestone approvals
Ask a client to approve a finished milestone in the client portal, and see whether they approved it or asked for changes, with their note.
When a milestone is finished, you can ask the client to approve it in their portal. They approve it or ask for changes, and you're told either way.
Before you start
- The client portal must be on. See Turn on the client portal.
- The milestone must be on a project, and the project must have a client.
- At least one contact at that client must have portal access. See Invite a client.
- Your role must allow sending email.
Ask client to approve only shows when these are true.
Ask the client to approve
- Open the milestone, on its full page or in the side panel.
- Click the More menu (⋯) and choose Ask client to approve.
The milestone's Client approval field moves to Waiting on client. Each contact with portal access gets an email with a link to the project. A message says how many contacts were emailed.
What the client does
The milestone shows under Waiting on you on their portal home, and on the project's page with two buttons:
- Approve.
- Ask for changes. They write what should change under What should change? and click Send.
See their answer
- Client approval moves to Approved or Changes requested.
- Client note holds what they wrote, and Answered by and Answered at say who and when. These three fields are hidden until you show them on the milestone.
- You get a notification. It goes to the milestone's owner, else the project's owner, else the person who made the milestone.
Approving doesn't mark the milestone done or bill it. Mark it done yourself when you're ready. A milestone with an amount drafts its invoice when it is marked done.
To ask again after changes, choose Ask client to approve again.
