Enroll contacts
Add contacts to a live sequence now or from a date, pick the mailbox it sends from, and see who was skipped and why. Enroll from a sequence, contact or list.
Enrolling puts contacts into a sequence. Each person gets the first email inside the sending window, and the rest follow until they reply.
Before you start
- Sequences are on the Starter and Growth plans, and your role needs permission to send email.
- The sequence must be published and turned on. A draft says Publish this sequence first, and a disabled one says Turn this sequence on first.
- You need a mailbox to send from: your own, or a teammate's they shared with you. See Connect your email and Share a mailbox.
Things to know
- You can enroll up to 1,000 people at a time.
- Only contacts can be enrolled. Each needs a valid email address.
- Someone who left a sequence or finished it can be enrolled in it again.
Enroll from the sequence
- Go to More > Sequences and open the sequence.
- Click Enroll people in the page bar, or on the Recipients tab.
- Under Recipients, click Choose people and pick the contacts.
- Under Send from, pick the mailbox. Your own mailboxes show as Me. A mailbox that is paused or can't sign in shows greyed out, with the reason.
- Under Start, choose Now, or On a date and pick the day.
- Click the enroll button. It names how many people you picked, such as Enroll 3 people.
The first email waits its delay from the start, and sends inside the sequence's window.
Enroll from a contact or a list
- On a contact: open the contact, go to its Sequences tab and click Add to sequence. Pick the Sequence in the dialog.
- From a contacts list: tick the contacts, then click Add to sequence in the bar that appears. Pick the Sequence in the dialog.
An automation can also enroll people with the Enroll in a sequence step. See Actions and conditions.
Who was skipped
After you enroll, the dialog says how many were enrolled and skipped. Each skipped person shows why:
- No email address
- Email address isn't valid
- On the unsubscribe list
- Already in this sequence
- Not found
If the sequence uses Ask Spodus variables, Ask Spodus then writes each person's lines. You can close the dialog while it works. The rest are written the next time the sequence is opened. A person waits for their lines before their first email.
