Contracts in the portal
See which contracts your clients can read in the client portal, how they sign one, and what the contract page shows them in plain words.
The Contracts page of the client portal lists the client company's contracts. Clients read the terms there and sign the ones you send them.
Before you start
- The client portal must be on. See Turn on the client portal.
Which contracts show
- Every contract for the client's company, once it has left Draft.
- A contract waiting for a signature comes first.
- Draft contracts never show. To let a client see and sign one, send it for signature. See Send for signature.
What the contract page shows
The contract's name, its status and its terms in plain words:
- Starts and Ends. With no end date, it says it runs until cancelled.
- Fee, per period. A contract with no fee says it is billed for the time worked.
- Billing: monthly or quarterly in advance, or once for the whole term.
- The included hours or units, and the rate for extra hours or units, when the contract has them.
Clients don't see your costs, margin or notes.
How a client signs
- They open the contract from Contracts, or from Waiting on you on their portal home.
- They click Sign contract.
- They type their name in Your full name, tick I agree to this contract, and click Sign.
The contract moves to Active, and the page then says who signed and when. You're notified, and the contract's Signed at, Signed by and Signed via fields are filled in.
If they have questions, the page asks them to reply to the email you sent.
