Invite a client
Give a client access to your client portal by emailing them a sign-in link from their contact, and learn how they sign in again later.
You invite a client to the portal from their contact record. Spodus emails them a link that signs them in. There is no password to set.
Before you start
- The client portal must be on. See Turn on the client portal.
- The contact needs an email address.
- The contact must be linked to a company. The portal shows that company's invoices, quotes, contracts and projects.
- Your role must allow sending email.
Send a portal link
- Open the contact, on its full page or in the side panel.
- Click the More menu (⋯) and choose Send portal link.
A message confirms the link was sent, and the contact's activity notes it.
Send portal link is on contacts only. To give a whole company access, send a link to each person there who needs it.
What the client gets
- An email with a sign-in link. It works once and lasts 3 days.
- Opening it signs them in to the portal home.
- If the link has expired, the portal asks for their email and sends a new one.
Signing in again later
Once a contact has been sent a link, they can go to the portal address, type their email and click Email me a link. The portal answers the same way whether or not the address is known, so it never reveals who your clients are.
Only contacts you've invited can get a link this way.
If the link doesn't send
Send portal link only shows when the portal is on and the contact has an email address. If it still doesn't send, Spodus tells you why:
- The contact isn't linked to a company.
- The contact has been sent several links in the last hour. Try again later.
