Two-factor sign-in
Turn on two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app, save your backup codes, sign in with a code, and make new backup codes if you need them.
With two-factor on, you sign in with your password and a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Someone who learns your password still can't get in.
Before you start
- Install an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy.
- You need your Spodus password.
Turn on two-factor
- Go to Settings > Profile.
- Under Signing in, click Two-factor authentication.
- Enter your Password and click Continue.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you can't scan it, type the key shown beside it into the app.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app and click Verify.
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe.
- Click Done.
Two-factor isn't on until a code is verified. The row in Signing in then shows On.
Sign in with a code
- Sign in with your email and password as usual.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app under Verification code.
- Click Verify.
Sign in with a backup code
If you don't have your phone, use a backup code.
- On the Two-step verification screen, click Use a backup code instead.
- Enter one of your backup codes and click Verify.
Each backup code works once.
Make new backup codes
- Go to Settings > Profile and click Two-factor authentication.
- Enter your Password.
- Click Regenerate backup codes.
Save the new codes. Your old codes stop working, and the new ones are shown only this once.
Turn off two-factor
In the same window, enter your Password and click Turn off. If your workspace requires two-factor, you'll be asked to set it up again. See Security settings.
