AutomationsUpdated
Triggers
Choose what starts an automation: a record that is created or changed, a date on a record, a schedule, a click on Run, or a webhook call.
The trigger is the first block of every automation. It decides when the automation runs.
Choose a trigger
- Open the automation from More > Automations.
- Click the trigger at the top of the Build tab. Its settings open on the right.
- Click Change trigger type and pick one under Select a trigger.
The triggers
| Trigger | Runs when |
|---|---|
| Record is created | A record of the chosen type is added |
| Record is updated | A record of the chosen type changes |
| Record is deleted | A record of the chosen type is deleted |
| Record is created or updated | Either of the above |
| Record date reached | A date on a record arrives |
| Launch manually | Someone clicks Run |
| On a schedule | A set time comes round |
| Webhook | Another app sends data to the automation's link |
Record triggers
- Pick the Record type, such as Deals or Tickets.
- For Record is updated and Record is created or updated, you can pick Fields (optional). The automation then runs only when one of those fields changes.
- Under Filter, click Add condition to run it only for some records. Every condition must match.
Record date reached
- Pick the Record type and the Date field, such as a task's due date.
- Set Days offset: 0 is the day itself, a negative number is days before, and a positive number is days after.
On a schedule
Pick a Frequency:
- Every few minutes: set the minutes between runs. The shortest gap is 5 minutes.
- Hourly: set the hours between runs.
- Daily: set every how many days, and the time.
- Weekly: pick the days and the time.
- Monthly: pick the day of the month and the time. In a shorter month, it runs on the last day.
The panel shows the next run. Times are in the automation's time zone, which you set on the Settings tab.
Launch manually
A manual automation needs no record. When it is live, click Run at the top of the builder, or Run now in the row's menu on the Automations list.
Webhook
The Webhook trigger gives you a link that another app can call. It needs the Starter plan or higher. See Webhooks.
