Linked records
Link a deal to its company and contacts, and see the quotes, invoices, contracts and projects made from it on tabs of the deal's own page.
Records in Spodus point at each other. A deal belongs to a company and has contacts. Its quotes, invoices, contracts and projects each point back at the deal. Open the deal and all of it is there.
Things to know
- A deal has two link fields of its own: Company and Contacts. An empty one reads Set company or Add contacts.
- Quotes, invoices, contracts and projects each have a Deal field. When it names a deal, the record shows on that deal's page.
- Anything you create from a record's page starts linked to it.
- A tab for a module shows only while that module is on in your workspace.
Link a deal to a company or contacts
- Open the deal.
- Click Company (or Set company) and pick the company from the list.
- Click Contacts (or Add contacts) and pick one or more people.
If the company isn't in the list yet, type its name and click the Create row at the bottom of the picker.
See what a deal led to
Open the deal's full page. After Overview, Activity, Tasks, Notes and Files, the deal has a tab for each kind of linked record:
- Quotes
- Invoices
- Contracts
- Projects
- Goals
The tab bar shows seven tabs at most, so the last of these sit under More. Each tab lists the records that point at this deal, with a count beside its name. A tab with nothing in it says so and offers a button to make one, such as New quote, already linked to the deal.
The deal's Overview also has a section for each kind of linked record, and the company's page lists the deal under its Deals tab.
Create linked work from a deal
- Click New quote at the top of the deal's page.
- Mark the deal won to start a project or an invoice from it. See Win or lose a deal.
